We’re having a celebration, and you’re invited!
On July 1st, Canada and Canadians will commemorate 150 years of Confederation. Ottawa will be alive with special events all throughout 2017.
We can’t wait for Canada Day, so we’re hosting a 26-week film series that celebrates the best in Canadian cinema. The series has been running from January 1st, and continues to June 26th. Each week, we’ll be showing a great Canadian film, on Sunday afternoons and Monday nights.
We’ll try to represent Canadian cinema’s top achievements, Canada’s most respected directors, all of Canada’s regions, and as many eras of Canadian film production as we can.
Best of all, we’re presenting all the films for FREE!
The ByTowne is paying for the cinema and staff, and we got lots of help from Canadian distribution companies, Reel Canada, Library and Archives Canada, the National Film Board and Ottawa’s own Lost Dominion Film Collective. To get the word out to as many people as possible, CBC Ottawa kindly agreed to be our Media Sponsor.
