“Perfect Days,” a Wim Wenders feature, was inspired from his post-pandemic visits to Tokyo, where he was invited to the Tokyo Toilet Project—a redesign of 17 Shibuya public toilets with global creators. Co-screenwriter Takuma Takasaki found the character Hirayama to be a captivating uncharted storytelling frontier.
