Joe Satriani, who said that he decided to take up the guitar the day he heard that Jimi Hendrix died, is, simply put, a guitar god. Although he’s played with some of the top rock acts in the world and is currently the guitarist for the supergroup Chickenfoot, his main passion and recording output is instrumental guitar rock. He’s released 15 solo albums and has been nominated for 10 Grammys in a career that spans over two decades.
For the film, a recent Montreal concert was shot by producer/director team Pierre and François Lamoureux, who have made a reputation for themselves with superb concert films for the likes of Rush and Frank Zappa.
Satchurated is a straight-up, all-performance concert film, featuring a four-piece backup band, an enthusiastic Montreal audience, and Satriani’s fast-paced virtuosity on his familiar Ibanez JS Series guitars. Included in the 90 minutes of high-energy music are Satriani classics like ‘War’ and ‘Satch Boogie’, along with other tracks both old and new.
This web site is very useful, but the hard copy of the ByTowne guide still has its merits. People rely on it and love it. Plus, its calendar pages can be pulled out and posted on your fridge door, something that we still can't achieve with the web site.
