Must-See Cinema! The original, superior verson of "Dinner For Schmucks"!
No screenings currently scheduled.
Everything goes boisterously right in this farce about everything going wrong in the life of a smug Parisian hotshot publisher played by Thierry Lhermitte. Part of what feeds the fun is that he deserves the trouble he gets and that his conceit blinds him. Not only does he regularly cheat on his wife and the taxman, he and his pals enjoy a cruel game that involves regular Wednesday night dinners to which they invite somebody to poke fun at.
Whoever invites the biggest fool wins. The publisher is convinced he’s got a lock on the championship after discovering a drudge of an accountant in the Ministry of Finance. As played with roly-poly obliviousness by Jacques Villeret, the poor sap, named François Pignon, clinches the idiot sweepstakes with his deadly earnest obsessional hobby – building matchstick replicas of famous buildings and landmarks.
What Pierre can’t know, but all too quickly learns, is that despite Pignon’s eagerness to be helpful, whatever he touches turns into smoking rubble. The pacing and efficient clockwork flavour of the action turn The Dinner Game into giddy froth cordon bleu.

– Huguette Roberge, La Presse
The ByTowne doesn't have a parking lot of its own, but denizens of downtown can usually find street parking close by fairly easily.
If you're not keen to troll for a parking space, or if you're running late, we recommend the parking garage at Loblaws. It's covered, heated and safe – and just half a block from the cinema. The best part: they charge just $2 flat rate after 6pm on weekdays, and only $3 all day on Saturdays & Sundays.

This web site is very useful, but the hard copy of the ByTowne guide still has its merits. People rely on it and love it. Plus, its calendar pages can be pulled out and posted on your fridge door, something that we still can't achieve with the web site.
