In 1948, the United States government released a documentary film about the Nuremberg trials in German cinemas as a way of showing the German people the atrocities committed in their name.
Newly restored and with English-language narration read by Liev Schreiber, Nuremberg: Its Lesson For Today still packs considerable power as a historical document, illustrating courtroom testimony with nightmarish images of medical experiments and mass graves pulled from the Nazis’ own cinematic archives.
