OIAF - Midori-ko
For more information, please visit www.animationfestival.ca
More than twenty years into his career, Keita Kurosaka remains one of the most original and compelling figures on Japan’s indie animation scene. Kurosaka hits OIAF this year with his highly-anticipated feature Midori-Ko, a staggeringly imaginative and surreal vision of 21st century Tokyo on the brink of starvation. The film tells the story of a young woman who, while working to develop a 'dream food' that will solve the city’s hunger crisis, encounters a mysterious creature that transforms her life. Kurosaka’s animation emerges through conflicting expressions of motion and stillness, light and dark, rest and explosion, to immerse audiences in a powerful symbiosis of story, mood and image.PLEASE NOTE: This presentation is a Gala Screening of the Ottawa International Animation Festival. Passholders have priority seating at Gala screenings (jury and filmmakers in attendance), but there may be tickets on sale available at the door 15 min. before showtime. OIAF admission is $12 General, $7 for ByTowne members.
