If you think the story of Rachel Corrie has been milked quite sufficiently onstage and via the publication of her diaries, you will be astonished by this superb investigation into her death.

Corrie was killed by an armoured Israeli bulldozer as she was attempting to prevent the destruction of Palestinian homes in Rafah in the Gaza Strip. Just what went wrong has never been clear, and this film makes things no less murky.

But director Simone Bitton got extraordinary access to Corrie’s peace activist companions in the International Solidary Movement, the Palestinians whose homes she was defending, the doctors who received her at the hospital and performed the autopsy, the commander of the bulldozer fleet and the bulldozer driver himself. There’s also amazing video footage of the event – though with the key piece mysteriously missing.

A hugely compelling portrait of passionate activism.
