The Girl Who Played With Fire is the second in the series adapting Stieg Larsson’s popular thrillers. Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) gets into trouble when her fingerprints are found on the gun used to kill two researchers working on an article for Millennium Magazine about a sex trafficking ring. When Bjurman, the parole officer who raped her, winds up dead, she looks guilty of all three murders. Her friend Blumkvist, who works for Millennium, sets out to find her before the police do.
Rapace is again riveting as the punk computer hacker. She even smokes ferociously. The baddie, who’s unable to feel physical pain, will creep you right out, and Alfredson creates an intense sense of dread. See The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (also playing Dec. 16 & 19) first, though, otherwise you might get a little lost.
