Winner of the Caméra d’or Prize at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, “Armand” marks the feature film debut of Norwegian filmmaker Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel, who is the grandson of world cinema legends Ingmar Bergman (“Persona,” “The Seventh Seal”) and Liv Ullmann (“Persona”).
The film follows Elisabeth, portrayed by Renate Reinsve (“The Worst Person in the World”), a defamed actress who is unexpectedly called into a parent-teacher meeting after hours. During this meeting, she is faced with serious allegations concerning her 6-year-old son, Armand, leading to a complex web of accusations among parents and faculty.
As Elisabeth fights to uncover the truth within the empty schoolrooms and dark corridors, a chaotic struggle for redemption unfolds, where desire, madness, and obsession take center stage.
