The Vengeance Trilogy

Each film in the trilogy features a unique storyline, but they all share a common theme: the quest for revenge and the consequences of our actions.

Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance
Special 35mm Screening

Starring familiar faces such as Bae Doona (“Sense8”) and frequent Bong Joon-ho collaborator Song Kang-ho (“Parasite”), “Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance” presents a bleak and violent tale of revenge gone wrong. The film tells the story of a deaf-mute man who kidnaps a young girl to finance a much-needed kidney transplant for his sister. When the young girl accidentally dies, her grieving father embarks on a search for answers and, inevitably, revenge.

Oldboy

Imprisoned by a mysterious, sadistic captor for 15 years, Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik) survives only because of his will to get even with the villain who has made his life a living hell. But when he’s suddenly released without explanation, he finds himself plunged further into a Kafkaesque conspiracy that goes far deeper than he can even begin to understand.

By turns operatically violent and morbidly funny, the second installment in Park’s Vengeance Trilogy has assumed the stature of a modern-day Greek tragedy.
