Thank You, Ottawa!

The ByTowne is now closed.

It's possible that, after the pandemic has been brought under control,
new management will take over the space and offer big-screen wonderfulness again.

The building is being maintained, with all its facilities and equipment intact,
in preparation for that hoped-for day.

EUFF - Admiral

(Michiel de Ruyter)

30th European Union Film Festival Selection from The Netherlands!

Netherlands flagThe European Union Film Festival, organized and curated every year by the Canadian Film Institute, is one of the most popular events on the Ottawa film calendar.

The EUFF features one film from each EU member nation. Most of the films, which are acquired with the assistance of the various embassies of the EU states, will not be available commercially, so this festival is many Ottawa movie fans' only opportunity to see them on the big screen.

For the auspicious occasion of the 30th edition of the EUFF, CFI Director Tom McSorley knew the festival would be more popular than ever, meaning their usual venue would not be up to the task of hosting. That's where the ByTowne comes in. (Or where you come into the ByTowne!)

We're delighted that, for the first time, the EUFF, featuring films from 28 EU member states, will take place at the ByTowne Cinema. Enjoy the films!

Details about Admiral (Michiel de Ruyter), as well as the rest of the festival line-up, are available on CFI/EUFF website.
