The ByTowne is now closed.

It's possible that, after the pandemic has been brought under control,
new management will take over the space and offer big-screen wonderfulness again.

The building is being maintained, with all its facilities and equipment intact,
in preparation for that hoped-for day.

I Thought It Was A Party

(Pensé que iba a haber fiesta)

Part of the Festival of New Spanish Cinema, organized in conjunction with the Embassy of Spain and Pragda!

Poster art for I Thought It Was A PartyFor how long is the ex-partner of a friend untouchable? Lucía (Victoria Bertuccelli) has been separated from Ricki for 4 years. She invites her best friend Ana (Elena Anaya, who starred in Almodóvar’s The Skin I Live In) to stay and care for the house and enjoy summer by the pool while she takes a trip with her new partner. After Lucía leaves, Ricki, who has not seen Ana for almost 2 years, comes to collect his daughter. In a casual and unexpected encounter, Ana and Ricki discover an attraction – or perhaps confirm one that may have always been there – and a romance is ignited.

Upon Lucía’s return, Ana avoids the inevitable admission as she battles guilt, lies and the fear of losing her friend.
