The ByTowne is now closed. But there's good news!

After the pandemic has been brought under control,
new management will take over the space and the ByTowne will re-open.

It may take a while for pandemic restrictions to be eased enough
that a feasible number of patrons can be allowed to watch a movie again,
but the new owners are working towards that day.

Royal Shakespeare Company – The Taming Of The Shrew

From the Royal Shakespeare Company to our screen! Admission $15, Members $11

Poster for the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of The Taming Of The ShrewJustin Audibert’s new take on Shakespeare’s ‘battle of the sexes’ flips the gender stereotypes upside down and the women take charge.

The story takes place in a matriarchal 16th-century society, where Baptista, a rich gentlewoman, wants to marry off her shrewish oldest son Katherine, before allowing the younger (and more desirable) Bianco to entertain marriage.

Amanda Harris, Joseph Arkley Claire Price and James Cooney lead the cast in this energetic comedy of gender and materialism.
