The ByTowne is now closed. But there's good news!

After the pandemic has been brought under control,
new management will take over the space and the ByTowne will re-open.

It may take a while for pandemic restrictions to be eased enough
that a feasible number of patrons can be allowed to watch a movie again,
but the new owners are working towards that day.

Sabrina

Must-See Cinema! Bogart, Hepburn, and Holden in Billy Wilder's oh-so-stylish romance!

Ignore the critics who say this is one of Billy Wilder’s minor works. It is a major movie, a masterpiece of romantic comedy, and it still looks as fresh as a daisy.

Poster for the classic romance SabrinaSabrina is a Cinderella story about a chauffeur’s daughter (Audrey Hepburn) and two brothers, Linus (Humphrey Bogart), a workaholic zillionaire and David (William Holden), a playboy. Because Sabrina’s infatuation with David is unwittingly wrecking a business deal, the cold-fish Bogart decides to divert her – with predictable results.

For a film that is so funny, so sophisticated and so technically polished, it comes as a surprise to learn that the production was a difficult one; the performances are impeccable, with Hepburn radiant, Holden showing real star quality and Bogart perfectly cast against his tough-guy image so that his entry into a new age of innocence is all the more funny and all the more moving.
