From writer-director Chandler Levack (I Like Movies) comes the vibrant, funny, and heartfelt Mile End Kicks, named one of TIFF’s Canada’s Top Ten Films of 2025. Aspiring music critic Grace Pine (Barbie Ferreira) moves from Toronto to Montreal’s Mile End in the early 2010s to write a book about Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill. Immersed in the neighbourhood’s legendary indie scene, Grace is swept up in its culture—and a few romances—while struggling to meet her deadline. Over one transformative summer, she confronts her creative doubts and the realities of a male-dominated music world. Sparkling with Levack’s signature wit and insight, Mile End Kicks is a fresh and deeply relatable story of ambition, love, and self-discovery.
Presented by the DGC Ontario, Mile End Kicks is screening as a part of this year’s International Film Festival of Ottawa. Before the feature film, enjoy the Canadian short film Fan (dir. Philippe Berthelet).
