Join us for a screening of the loosely connected film trilogy that brought Director Park Chan-wook to a global audience, a mainstay in the early to mid-2000s Boom of Asian Cinema in North America, alongside films like Takashi Miike’s “Audition” and Kinji Fukasaku’s “Battle Royale.”
Each film in the trilogy features a unique storyline, but they all share a common theme: the quest for revenge and the consequences of our actions.
Starring familiar faces such as Bae Doona (“Sense8”) and frequent Bong Joon-ho collaborator Song Kang-ho (“Parasite”), “Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance” presents a bleak and violent tale of revenge gone wrong. The film tells the story of a deaf-mute man who kidnaps a young girl to finance a much-needed kidney transplant for his sister. When the young girl accidentally dies, her grieving father embarks on a search for answers and, inevitably, revenge.
